Nuba + combines Polymyxin B Sulphate, Neomycin, and Bacitracin Zinc, forming a broad-spectrum, bactericidal topical antibiotic formulation.
Polymyxin B Sulphate is highly effective against gram-negative bacteria, particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which is resistant to many antibiotics.
Neomycin exhibits potent bactericidal activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, including Staphylococcus aureus and Proteus species.
Bacitracin Zinc targets gram-positive bacteria, including Streptococcus species, thereby complementing the antibacterial spectrum.
Together, these agents provide comprehensive coverage against a wide range of pathogenic bacteria with minimal skin irritation and negligible systemic absorption.
Nuba + is indicated for the treatment and prevention of infections in wounds, burns, skin grafts, and donor sites. It is also effective in managing chronic varicose ulcers, indolent ulcers, furuncles, carbuncles, pyoderma, sycosis barbae, impetigo, and acne. Additionally, it may be used for secondary bacterial infections associated with scabies, pediculosis, tinea pedis, and contact or allergic dermatitis.
Topical use of neomycin during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended, as systemic absorption can potentially cause fetal toxicity. The excretion of topical components in breast milk is unknown. Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician.
Adults: Apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected area 1–3 times daily after proper cleaning. Continue until infection is fully controlled and healing is complete.
Children and Infants: The same dosing regimen applies, but a reduced amount should be used for infants.
Neonates: Use is not recommended in neonates.
Use only as advised by a registered physician.
Nuba+ is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Neomycin, Bacitracin, Polymyxin B, or any component of the formulation. Due to the potential for increased systemic absorption, it should not be used in neonates.
Nuba + is not suitable for sterile surgical use involving internal cavities (abdominal or thoracic).
Avoid prolonged use, as it may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible microorganisms.
Ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity have been reported with neomycin, especially in infants with immature skin or renal function.
Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, or large open wounds.
Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children.
